Where do you use AI?
Choose the AI that is in front of you. You can come back to this choice at any time.
Claude
Install the Arroway plugin
In Claude Code and Cowork, the plugin is what makes every session open by reading what is in force and close by recording what was done — without anyone asking. It also brings the connection: nothing to paste.
  1. 1In the Claude app or Cowork: Customize → Plugins → search for Arroway → Add.
  2. 2Open a new conversation and sign in to your Arroway account when Claude asks.

You are ready when Arroway appears among your plugins and the new conversation asks you to sign in.

In Claude Code

Run these two commands in the terminal. The package uses Arroway's own address, and you sign in the first time it needs you.

/plugin marketplace add oaleviola/arroway-plugin
/plugin install arroway@arroway

If the summary asks you to run /reload-plugins, run it to activate the plugin.

In the Claude app's chat, the plugin brings the skill, but the hooks that force the opening read and the closing record only run in Cowork and Claude Code.

Without the plugin
Claude does not offer plugins to you? Connect from the directory
The Arroway connector is already published by Anthropic, and the same connection works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile. Without the plugin, the AI calls Arroway when your request asks for it.
  1. 1Open Claude's connector directory and find Arroway.
  2. 2Choose Connect and sign in to your Arroway account when Claude asks for authorization.
  3. 3Open a new conversation and begin working normally.

You are ready when Arroway appears among the connectors in your Claude account.

Personal account or team?
Personal account
Connect it yourself from the directory and authorize with your Arroway account when Claude asks.
Team or enterprise
An administrator can make the connector available to the workspace. Each person still authorizes with their own Arroway account, so access and authorship stay individual.
One connection, different names
The MCP server connects Arroway to your AI; the plugin is what makes the AI use it. With the plugin, every session opens by reading what is in force and closes by recording what was done, without anyone asking. Without it, the AI calls Arroway only when your request asks for it.

The first use starts empty — on purpose

If the work already has memory, ask the AI to read its Arroway before acting. If it is empty, begin with the documents, rules and decisions that already govern the work. The AI proposes what to record; you can correct what does not belong.

“Read this work's Arroway before you start.”

Add Arroway to a repository

For a coding agent asked to add Arroway to this repository. Once the files below are committed, every teammate and every agent that opens the project arrives with Arroway connected.

  1. Write the MCP configuration of each tool this repository uses, pointing to Arroway's public address: `.mcp.json` for Claude Code, `.cursor/mcp.json` for Cursor, `.codex/config.toml` for Codex. Codex reads a project's own configuration only when the project is trusted.
  2. Never write a personal account's private address into the repository — that address is the person's identity. The repository gets only the public address; each person's identity comes from their own sign-in.
  3. Add the Arroway block below to the repository's AGENTS.md (or CLAUDE.md), replacing <project> with the Arroway project this repository belongs to.
  4. Recommended for Claude Code: `.claude/settings.json` offers Arroway's plugin to everyone who opens the project. The plugin is what makes every session open by reading what is in force and close by recording what was done, without anyone asking; without it, the AI calls Arroway only when the request asks for it. The connection is what makes reading possible.
  5. Tell the person the one thing only they can do: sign in the first time their tool connects to Arroway — in Codex, with `codex mcp login arroway`.
  6. Check that a read answers: call `arroway_read` on the project. When it returns the project's rules, the repository is ready.

## Arroway

This repository's decisions live in Arroway, in the project "<project>". Before acting on a task here, call `arroway_read` on that project and use what it returns. When you finish, record what the work settled with `arroway_log`.
